Red Mountain Theatre Company is offering an extravaganza for the whole family, Holiday Spectacular 2018 running November 30–December 16 at the RMTC Cabaret Theatre. It’s an unbelievable event of all your holiday favorites performed by Birmingham’s best local artists and the RMTC Conservatory.
RMTC Conservatory student Victoria Yeager is one of the featured and amazingly talented cast members in the production. A Senior at Spain Park High School, she has been involved with the
Conservatory for the past 8 years and it all started with a Christmas gift. “My Dad’s gift to me was Broadway Bootcamp with Red Mountain Theatre Company. At first, I didn’t want to go at all, but after the first day it became this amazing experience,” explained Yeager. Victoria was no stranger to performance having danced since she was two-years-old, but her time with RMTC allowed her to incorporate that art form into new avenues of performance. “Jordan Fisher (RMTC alum and Dancing with the Stars winner) was one of my facilitators and he really encouraged me to audition for the Conservatory,” stated Yeager.
For Yeager, the tradition of the Holiday Spectacular has been an escape from what’s going on in the world. There are moments of laughter and moments of reflection that can be shared by all. Even at times, there have been some teachable moments for this bright performer, “My first Holiday Spectacular I was one of many angels in a number. We thought because we had wings that we needed to flap our arms like birds…that was probably not the best choice,” Yeager laughingly described. Not only is she a performer in the production, but she is also serving as a choreographer for one of the numbers as well in her last year as a Conservatory member.
Out of all of the lessons she has learned over the years working with RMTC, it is the lessons of leadership and collaboration she will cherish most of all. With the closing of one chapter comes the opening for another and Yeager is currently auditioning for several theatre programs around the country. “I’m really looking forward to the process of learning on a university level and seeing how I will turn out as an artist,” she eagerly described. You do not want to miss one second of witnessing this future star of the stage.
