Bar Manager

The Bar Manager is responsible for delivering high quality, fun, safe, and efficient experiences for patrons at each of the Arts Campus two bars. Whether in the fast-paced environment of theatrical intermissions or bar service for a special event, the Bar Manager should be focused on providing exceptional customer service and effective back-end operations to meet RMT’s revenue and experience goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Hire, train, and manage bar staff, ensuring the highest level of professionalism, integrity, and customer service

Maintain appropriate Health and Safety standards and licenses

Develop and implement procedures to deliver speedy, efficient, safe, and fun bar service

Strategically plan and adjust menu items to meet revenue and experience goals at each bar

Create effective schedules and quick resolve conflicts to ensure that bar is well staffed during peak hours

Order and manage inventory with an eye toward consumption trends, cost efficiency, special events, and quality control

Recognize and address potential intoxication and disruptive situations

Negotiate vendor contracts

Manage Point of Sale equipment and reconciliation of finances

Monitor and maintain care for all bar equipment and other assets, coordinating with Facilities Manager as service is required

Coordinate with Patron Experience Manager and Business Development Manager to deliver appropriate service for special events/rentals

Minimum Qualifications:

2-3 Years Management Experience or 5 Years’ Experience in bartending setting

Extensive knowledge of wine, liquor and beer as well as classic cocktail mixing

Highly organized in inventory and budgeting

Calm demeanor in a high volume environment with diverse personalities and shifting priorities

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Willingness to work during peak hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Good understanding of technology and how to leverage it for greater efficiency

Preferred Qualifications:

ServSafe certified or equivalent certification

CPR certification

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk for long periods of time (5+ hours). Acute hearing is required. The employee is often required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and taste or smell. This employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (with assistance if necessary.) Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and peripheral vision.
