This two week performance opportunity is a great chance for young performers to get education through experience.With its poignant story and catchy Caribbean-flavored score, Once on This Island Jr. follows the story of Ti Moune, a peasant girl who rescues and falls in love with Daniel, a wealthy boy from the other side of her island. Through almost non-stop song and dance, Ti Moune sets out on a quest that will test the strength of her love against the powerful forces of prejudice, hatred, and even death.
Students will learn about rhythm and movement as they grow their skills in tap dancing. They’ll discover anyone can tap dance and find success in either a beginning or intermediate level. Young artists will achieve personal victories in tap and leave feeling accomplished and confident in their new-found skills.
In this fun and fast-paced camp, young artists will learn to think on their feet and trust their instincts as they hone their improv skills. They’ll collaborate with their peers in a supportive environment, discovering how to tell a story without a script. Students will gain confidence and self-assurance as they find their voices and work together to achieve a common goal.
