Parker Esse most recently choreographed Guys and Dolls at the Shaw Festival Theater in Canada and Carousel at Goodspeed Opera House, which was taped and archived for The New York Public Library of Performing Arts at Lincoln Center. BroadwayWorld.com named him “Best Choreographer of The Year” for this work. Parker choreographed The Music Man for Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater in Washington, D.C. (Helen Hayes Award Nominee for Best Choreography), where he also choreographed the critically and nationally acclaimed Oklahoma! (Helen Hayes Award Winner for Best Choreography and The New Yorker’s Best Performers of 2010). Parker choreographed the World Premier of Katie Couric’s The Brand New Kid for The Kennedy Center and subsequent U.S. National Tours, as well as Buddy, The Buddy Holly Story at Flat Rock Playhouse, The Mystery Of Irma Vep, The Light in the Piazza, and the World Premier of A Christmas Carol 1941 for Arena Stage. He is currently developing a new work for Roundabout Theater Company in NYC, as well as choreographing The Most Happy Fella for Goodspeed Opera House and their 50th Anniversary Season and Smokey Joe’s Café for Arena Stage’s Spring 2014 Production. Also just announced, Parker will be choreographing the three-time Tony Award winning Bernadette Peters and cast of the new Stephen Sondheim and Wynton Marsalis collaboration, A Bed and a Chair: A New York Love Affair, which will be directed by the Tony Award winning John Doyle!
